Hall Of Fame Builder • Developer Of The Year • Community Of The Year

For three generations, the Moceri name has been synonymous with residential real estate excellence in Michigan, creating more than 40,000 residences and developing a national reputation for quality, innovation and professionalism.

Personal service and attention to detail have been Moceri hallmarks for decades.

The Moceri Company's prominence is rooted in the foresight of Buster Moceri, a Detroit fruit wholesaler from the 1920's through the '40's, whose well-developed relationships with area farmers enabled him to acquire valuable parcels in what was then open countryside north of Eight Mile Road. Those parcels ultimately evolved into some of Moceri's most popular communities.

Buster's son, Dominic, emerged as a force in the residential building and development industry in the mid-1950's with his first master-planned development in Grand Blanc, a location selected for its proximity to key interstates linking Lansing, Flint, Detroit and Ann Arbor. Over the next three decades, his uncanny market perceptions fueled the company's steady expansion.

"Don't build for yourself, build for your customers," Dominic often said. That philosophy ensured success by seeking input from customers, a rarity in residential construction in the suburban boom years of the 1960's.

As suburban growth drove up real estate prices, the Moceri Companies devised innovative financing programs to help buyers acquire single-family homes at the same rate as used homes. To close a sale, the company often would buy a customer's existing home on trade!

Through the years, the Moceri Companies earned a position as a leader in community design, pioneering the concept of master planning, and building elaborate community entrances to set an unmistakable tone of elegance and charm.

In addition to the creation of attractive single-family, condominium and apartment developments, the Moceri Companies emerged as a leading supplier of manufactured housing communities. During the 1960's and '70's, Moceri produced 6,500 sites, many of which remain under management.

Relying on old-world craftsmanship, originality and a relentless focus on customer satisfaction, the Moceri Companies has earned homebuyers' trust throughout Southeast Michigan. This factor results in frequent sales to the children and grandchildren of previous Moceri homebuyers.

Today, Dominic's sons, Mario, Frank and Dominic J., are drawing on this proud heritage to lead the Moceri Companies to even higher levels of excellence. The trio is creating new landmark developments from estate homes to affordable condominiums and apartments with the same energy and vision of their father, and setting a pace the rest of the building industry is obliged to follow.
